Welcome from the Chairman

Since 1997 the priority of the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center has been to improve the quality of life for all members of our community. As chairman of this organization, I am pleased that we have been able to locate resources and provide quality programs for our citizens. Realizing that bigger is not always better, many young adults prefer to stay home and raise their families in a town where neighbors care about neighbors and citizens feel safe.

Although in many ways, Millen and Jenkins County reflect the lifestyle associated with Andy Griffith's fictional Mayberry, our community differs from this ideal world in our need to address the same social issues faced by all communities in the 21st century.

The motto of Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center is "Building Resources for a Better Community." We want to provide the information and resources needed, so families can enjoy the benefits of small town life without having to deal with social problems that can cause harm. With the help of local, state, and federal partners, the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center has been known as the source for family resources in the county and is a model of collaboration for others looking to effect change in their community. With programs such as First Steps, Parents as Teachers, B.L.A.S.T., Grad.Net, and Family Team Meetings, families can receive support or assistance to become better parents, employees, neighbors, and community members.
